U15 League Shield Winners The Ballinderreen U15 hurling team won the League Shield final against St. Thomas on a scoreline of 3-7 to 2-8 in Duggan Park last Thursday. The game was played in wet conditions but Ballinderreen dominated the opening 10 minutes and when a pass from Tadgh Ganly put Tom Quinn through to score the opening goal, the score stood at 1-2 to 0-0. St. Thomas began to gain a foothold in the game and scored the next 2 points. Harry Allen stopped an Oren Fahy shot to deny St. Thomas a goal. Brian King hit the side netting before St Thomas’ scored a scrappy goal to bring the game level. Mark Meehan scored a point to put Ballinderreen back in the lead before 2 points scored by Joe Burke left Ballinderreen a point in arrears at half time. The second half began nervously.
