Ballinderreen Club nursery will be starting back on Monday, 23rd March at 5:30pm on the Astro.
These sessions are suitable for boys and girls from age 4 upwards who are looking to have fun and begin their hurling and camogie journeys.

Congratulations to former Ballinderreen club member Lisa Casserly who was named AIB Camogie Club Championship Team of the Year 2025/2026 along with 7 other Athenry players.
Lisa was also nominated for the prestigious AIB Camogie Club Championship Player of the Year award along with teammate Therese Donohue and Sorcha McCartan from St Finbarr’s.
The winner of the Player of the Year award will be announced at the AIB GAA Club Player Awards that takes place at Croke Park this Friday, March 13th.

Sport Ireland Survey
Sport Ireland has launched the first ever survey exploring behaviours toward sports officials in Ireland.
Players, coaches and spectators who have encountered a sports official at a competition/game over the past season are invited to take part in the survey.
The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Parents Talk with Eoghan Cleary
Eoghan Cleary is a secondary school teacher at Temple Carrig School, Co Wicklow. He is a lifelong children’s rights activist currently advocating for the protection of children in an utterly unregulated online world. He is a member of the Online Health Task Force and serves as a director on the board of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. He is the author of multiple textbooks, a columnist for The Irish Times and Journal.ie and has Masters degrees in Education and International Human Rights Law, among others. He is currently working as an educational expert with the Sexual Exploitation Research and Policy Institute developing and researching the impact of his educational programme on gender stereotypes, media and porn literacy, sexual violence and consent.
The talk is approximately 70 minutes long (excluding Q&A) and is for parents/guardians/carers or those working with children and adolescents. It is not suitable for young people under the age of 16.

Galway GAA Referee Recruitment
Galway GAA is running a recruitment campaign for new referees. Applicants can register their interest by emailing refereesadministrator.galway@gaa.ie.
Club Referee Incentive Programme
As we look to the future of hurling in our county and beyond, we’re concerned about the growing shortage of qualified and available referees. This threatens the sustainability of our sport, and we feel the county board has not done enough to address it in terms of training and recruitment.
To tackle this challenge, we propose introducing an incentive programme within our club to encourage the recruitment of new referees.
Here’s the proposal for all club members, specifically for those starting to referee from 2025 onwards:
- Free Membership: Active referees (and their spouse/children, if applicable) will receive free membership as long as they remain active and officiate in championship games. Referees can start by officiating in juvenile championships and progress to adult matches.
- Free Lotto Subscription: One free annual lotto subscription.
- All-Ireland Final Ticket: A free ticket to the All-Ireland final if Galway qualifies, plus the option to purchase a second ticket.
- Umpires' Ticket: The option for your nominated umpires to purchase one ticket to the All-Ireland final if Galway qualifies.
- Referee Bonus 1: A €500 bonus after you referee your first Senior Hurling Championship match in Galway.
- Referee Bonus 2: A €1,000 bonus after refereeing a Senior Intercounty match (League or Championship).
This programme is designed to support and incentivize new referees while rewarding those committed to officiating at a high level. We believe this will secure the future of refereeing and strengthen our club and county's commitment to the sport.
We encourage all club members to consider this opportunity to help grow the next generation of referees.

The 10:30am Mass in Ballinderreen on the 15th of March will be offered for

- Michael and Margaret Hynes. Mulrook and their daughter Mary Kinnane, Kilshanny, anniversary.
ATU Sports Scholarships
ATU Sports Scholarship applications are now open. The ATU Sports Scholarship programme provides supports to talented student athletes to recognise their need to balance both sporting and academic commitments. The sports scholarships include financial benefits of up to €3,000 per annum. Non-financial benefits include free or reduced rate access to sports facilities, access to sports science supports, free sports scholarship gear plus lots more.
