Connacht Football Final


Congratulations to Isabelle Conneely who was selected to represent Ballinderreen National School in the Cumann na mBunscoil Mini-7s which will take place at half time in the Connacht Football Final between Galway and Roscommon in Dr. Hyde Park on Sunday.

South Galway Bay Music Festival 2026

The South Galway Bay Music Festival will take place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July. The full line-up of acts can be viewed above.

Key Information:

  • The festival is open to all ages.
  • Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
  • There will be no discounted Under 16 tickets available online.
  • Weekend Under 16 tickets (€20) will be made available within the community closer to the event.

Adult Weekend Tickets:

  • Online weekend ticket price: €70
  • Community weekend ticket price: €60

Discounted community tickets will not be available online. These tickets will be available to purchase through Hurling Club and Camogie Club Committee members, as well as Adult Hurling and Camogie players.

Sustainable Club Initiative

Have an old hurl under the stairs or gathering dust in the shed?

We’re collecting used hurls to repair and repurpose for players of all age groups. If you have one to spare, we’d love to put it back into action.

Drop them off at the pitch on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6pm, or give them to coaches at your own training session

Let’s give them a second life 🏑


Ballinderreen Golf Society


Intercounty Games

The Galway U16 team drew with Kilkenny 3-14 to 2-17 in the All-Ireland final. The replay will take place on Saturday, 9th of May in St. Brendan's Park in Birr at 5pm. This game will be preceded by the All-Ireland U23 semi-final between Galway and Kilkenny which throws in at 3pm. The minor hurling team qualified for the Leinster final after drawing with Dublin 1-21 to 3-15.


The Galway ladies football team won the Connacht final on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-11.



Coláiste Chian

Coláiste Chian is a summer Irish college aimed at secondary school students between the ages of 12 and 18. It will take place between the 6th and 10th of July in Gaelscoil de hÍde, Oranmore. Each day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. The cost per student is €180.

Bus Éireann School Transport

The School Transport Family Portal is now open for payments and applications for the School Year 2026/27

The closing date is Friday May 8th for all applications and payments. Applications can be made at this link: https://www.buseireann.ie/schooltransport

Details for payments for the 2026/2027 School Year are as follows;

Primary School Transport: €100 per child

For Account Holders with 3 or more children in the Primary School Transport scheme, a maximum family charge of €200 will apply.

Post Primary School Transport: €100 per child

For Account Holders with 3 or more children in the Post Primary School Transport scheme, a maximum family charge of €220 will apply.

The maximum family payment that will apply is €220


Sport Ireland Survey

Sport Ireland has launched the first ever survey exploring behaviours toward sports officials in Ireland.  

Players, coaches and spectators who have encountered a sports official at a competition/game over the past season are invited to take part in the survey.

The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Roadworks

There will be roadworks carried out on the N67 in Clarinbridge tomorrow (6th of May). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9:30am to 4:30pm


Free Electrical and Battery Recycling

WEEE Ireland are holding free recycling events for batteries and electrical equipment in May.

  • 9th of May: Loughrea Mart (H62 AV97) between 10am and 4pm
  • 30th of May: Gort Mart (H91 V256) between 10am and 4pm


Affordable Purchase Scheme


Galway County Council have announced that 106 homes will be available at the Fearann na hEascrach development in Athenry as part of the Affordable Housing Scheme.

Applications open online on Thursday, 21 May at 10am and will remain open until 11 June.

An information evening for interested applicants will take place in the Raheen Woods Hotel on Thursday, 14 May at 7pm.

ATU Sports Scholarships

ATU Sports Scholarship applications are now open. The ATU Sports Scholarship programme provides supports to talented student athletes to recognise their need to balance both sporting and academic commitments. The sports scholarships include financial benefits of up to €3,000 per annum. Non-financial benefits include free or reduced rate access to sports facilities, access to sports science supports, free sports scholarship gear plus lots more.
