Galway Camogie
Congratulations to Mia Walsh and Molly O'Brien and their teammates on the Galway U17 development squad who won the shield final against Tipperary.
Congratulations to Ella Ward and Alice Derrane who were part of the Galway Camogie U16 development squad.
The fixtures for the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship have been announced. Galway's group games are:
- Jun 6/7: Galway vs Cork
- Jun 14: Waterford vs Galway
- Jun 28: Galway vs Tipperary
The dates for the knockout games are:
- Jul 4/5: Quarter Finals – Double Header with GAA Senior Hurling Semi Finals – Croke Park
- Jul 25: Semi Finals – FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles
- Aug 9: All-Ireland Finals – Croke Park
Cumann na mBunscoil
Congratulations to Isabelle Conneely who represented Ballinderreen National School in the Cumann na mBunscoil Mini-7s today at half time in the Connacht Football Final in a sold-out Hyde Park.

Pitch Development
The pitches will be sanded and aerated on Saturday (main pitch) and Monday (juvenile pitch). There will be heavy machinery working on the pitches between 8am and 5:30pm both days so please take care of kids if they are in the grounds either day.
The pitches are safe to play on straight after but will have a lot of sand on the surface.
Cycle for Treasure
The Cycle for Treasure competition in association with Galway Sports Partnership takes place this Friday, 16th of May. Meet at Ballinderreen Community Centre at 6:45pm.
South Galway Bay Music Festival 2026
The South Galway Bay Music Festival will take place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July. The full line-up of acts can be viewed above.
Key Information:
- The festival is open to all ages.
- Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
- There will be no discounted Under 16 tickets available online.
- Weekend Under 16 tickets (€20) will be made available within the community closer to the event.
Adult Weekend Tickets:
- Online weekend ticket price: €70
- Community weekend ticket price: €60
Discounted community tickets will not be available online. These tickets will be available to purchase through Hurling Club and Camogie Club Committee members, as well as Adult Hurling and Camogie players.

Ballinderreen Community Centre
Ballinderreen Community Centre were presented with the Galway County Council Cathaoirleach’s Award in the category of Heritage Publications.
The award reflected the work completed on a series of eleven podcasts, a short documentary film on the achievements of the local community, a StoryMap of the parish and an audit of the built, natural and cultural heritage of the civil parishes of Kilcolgan and Drumacoo.
Representing Ballinderreen Community Centre and the local heritage groups were Breandán Ó Loinsigh, Martin Murphy and Michael Coen.

Volunteers Needed - Ballinderreen Village Clean and Spruce Up
Ballinderreen Tidy Towns Committee are organising another community clean up/spruce up of Ballinderreen Village and would love your help!
Date: Wednesday, May 13thTime: 7pmMeeting Point: Jordan’s Pub Car ParkLet’s work together to build on the great work already completed, to make our village a cleaner, more welcoming place for everyone. We still have some weeding to do and we would like to get some planting completed to bring a little brightness to our planters.
If you’re able to lend a hand, please bring along any of the following if you have them:
- Hi-vis vests
- Gloves
- Shovels, spades, or trowels
- Sweeping or yard brushes.
With First Holy Communion taking place in the Village on May 16th, all help is greatly appreciated. Whether you can stay for five minutes, an hour or the evening, we would be delighted to see you.

Intercounty Games
The Galway hurling team had a 4-22 to 1-22 win away to Kildare.
In the curtain-raiser, the Galway U23 camogie team lost the All-Ireland semi-final to Kilkenny after Claire Doheny scored a goal 3 minutes into injury time. The final score was 2-14 to 0-18.
The minor hurling team qualified for the Leinster final after winning their semi-final against Wexford 6-21 to 3-12 where they will face Kilkenny who beat Dublin 2-18 to 1-20.
The Galway senior and minor football teams both lost the Connacht final to Roscommon.
Wednesday Night
The Galway U20 hurling team will play Wexford in the Leinster semi-final on Wednesday, 13th of May at 7:30pm. The game will be streamed on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel.
The Munster U20 hurling final between Tipperary and Clare will be broadcast live on TG4 with throw in at 7:35pm.
The following games will also be streamed on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel or on the TG4 Player/App with throw in at 7:30pm.
- Dublin v Kilkenny, U20 Leinster Hurling Sem-Final
- Kerry v Roscommon, U20 All-Ireland Football Sem-Final

Coláiste Chian
Coláiste Chian is a summer Irish college aimed at secondary school students between the ages of 12 and 18. It will take place between the 6th and 10th of July in Gaelscoil de hÍde, Oranmore. Each day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. The cost per student is €180.

Sport Ireland Survey
Sport Ireland has launched the first ever survey exploring behaviours toward sports officials in Ireland.
Players, coaches and spectators who have encountered a sports official at a competition/game over the past season are invited to take part in the survey.
The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Culture Night
Funding applications for free events on Culture Night (18th of September) are being accepted by Galway County Council. Event organisers can apply for funding to cover artist fees and production costs with the minimum contribution being €250 and the maximum is €800.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, 28th of May at 4pm

Roadworks
This message is from Galway County Council.
Please be advised that John Madden & Sons Ltd will be carrying out roadworks on the N67 in Clarinbridge on behalf of Galway County Council tomorrow.
To facilitate these works, temporary traffic management will be in operation from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Motorists and other road users are advised to expect delays and allow additional time for their journeys during this period.

WEEE Ireland are holding free recycling events for batteries and electrical equipment in May.

Affordable Purchase Scheme
Galway County Council have announced that 106 homes will be available at the Fearann na hEascrach development in Athenry as part of the Affordable Housing Scheme.
Applications open online on Thursday, 21 May at 10am and will remain open until 11 June.
An information evening for interested applicants will take place in the Raheen Woods Hotel on Thursday, 14 May at 7pm.

ATU Sports Scholarship applications are now open. The ATU Sports Scholarship programme provides supports to talented student athletes to recognise their need to balance both sporting and academic commitments. The sports scholarships include financial benefits of up to €3,000 per annum. Non-financial benefits include free or reduced rate access to sports facilities, access to sports science supports, free sports scholarship gear plus lots more.
