Cumann na mBunscoil
Congratulations to Zara Finn who represented Ballinderreen National School in the Cumann na mBunscoil Mini-7s on Saturday at half time in the Galway v Dublin Leinster Championship game in Pearse Stadium.
Ballinderreen National School
Congratulations to the Ballinderreen N.S. hurling team who qualified for the county final after wins over Gaelscoil de hÍde, Scoil Ìosa and Carnmore. The final will take place on Thursday, June 11th.
Cycle for Treasure
Thank you to all the participants and volunteers who made the Cycle for Treasure event a success.
Galway U14 Camogie
Well done to Club members Sophia & Ella, who proudly togged out Saturday with the U14 Galway Development Squad and took part in the Connacht Camogie Blitz in Roscommon.
South Galway Bay Music Festival 2026
The South Galway Bay Music Festival will take place from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July. The full line-up of acts can be viewed above.
Key Information:
- The festival is open to all ages.
- Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
- There will be no discounted Under 16 tickets available online.
- Weekend Under 16 tickets (€20) will be made available within the community closer to the event.
Adult Weekend Tickets:
- Online weekend ticket price: €70
- Community weekend ticket price: €60
Discounted community tickets will not be available online. These tickets will be available to purchase through Hurling Club and Camogie Club Committee members, as well as Adult Hurling and Camogie players.

Anne Moloney-Fennessy
Ballinderreen Hurling and Camogie Club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Anne Moloney-Fennessy, O’Briensbridge, Co. Clare, sister of Brian Moloney, Ballinderreen.
Brian and his wife Daragh, children Róisín, Aodhán and Ciara have all given so much to our club over the years, and Ciara, continues to proudly represent the club with our Junior Camogie team.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the extended Moloney and Fennessy families and friends at this very difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Premier Intermediate Championship
Teams: Kilconieron, Padraig Pearses, Mullagh, Kilnadeema/Leitrim, Tynagh/Abbey/Duniry, Ahascragh/Fohenagh, Ballinderreen, Portumna, Beagh, Rahoon/Newcastle, Meelick/Eyrecourt, Kinvara, Carnmore, Ballygar, Killimor, Skehana-Mountbellew/Moylough.
16 Teams as per outcome of 2025 championships.
4 groups x 4 teams each seeded draw, ie 1 relegated Senior team 2025 plus remaining Senior B teams 2025 drawn 2 (two) in each group,
Top team in each group qualify for quarter final places in Senior championship.
Teams 2 and 3 in each group cross play in preliminary quarter final, with
winners playing 1st place teams in quarter final. Avoid repeats where possible.
Semi-finals: Open Draw.
Winner promoted to Senior Championship for 2027.
Sequence of games in groups to be as per GAA Matrixes.
Winner on the day in all knockout games up to and including Semi Finals & Final Replay.
Relegation:
Bottom team in each group playoff with 1 team relegated to Premier Junior 2027 in the following format: - 2 V 2 with 2 losers’ playoff, loser relegated to Premier Junior 2027.

Intercounty Games
The Galway hurling team lost to Dublin 0-21 to 3-15
The minor hurling team won the Leinster final after recovering from a 12 point deficit in the second half to force extra-time before winning the game by a point.
U20 Leinster Final
The Galway U20 hurling team will play Kilkenny in the Leinster final on Wednesday, 20th of May at 7:30pm. The game will be shown live on TG4.
Coláiste Chian
Coláiste Chian is a summer Irish college aimed at secondary school students between the ages of 12 and 18. It will take place between the 6th and 10th of July in Gaelscoil de hÍde, Oranmore. Each day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. The cost per student is €180.

Community Games
Best of luck to the Ballinderreen Community Games U12 girls soccer team who are competing in the 7-a-side knockout competition with their first game against Clarinbridge next Tuesday at 7pm at Colga FC.
South Galway Athletics
Congratulations to Ciarán Kelleher and his teammates, Caoimhe Phelan (West Coast AC) and Pearl Sands (Moy Valley AC), who won gold in the International 5km Team event in the World Athletics Racwalking Tour in Rio Maior, Portugal.

‘Bucket Collection – Foróige Ballinderreen’
On Easter Saturday, 1st year members of Ballinderreen Foróige held a bucket collection in aid of the Galway Simon Community at Daybreak Ballinderreen and Centra Kilcolgan.
An incredible €931 was raised, and we are so proud of our members for giving their time and energy to support such a worthy cause.
A huge thank you to everyone in the community who donated so generously and stopped to support the collection on the day, this kindness and support will help provide vital services to those in need.

Culture Night
Funding applications for free events on Culture Night (18th of September) are being accepted by Galway County Council. Event organisers can apply for funding to cover artist fees and production costs with the minimum contribution being €250 and the maximum is €800.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, 28th of May at 4pm

WEEE Ireland are holding free recycling events for batteries and electrical equipment in May.

Affordable Purchase Scheme
Galway County Council have announced that 106 homes will be available at the Fearann na hEascrach development in Athenry as part of the Affordable Housing Scheme.
Applications open online on Thursday, 21 May at 10am and will remain open until 11 June.
An information evening for interested applicants will take place in the Raheen Woods Hotel on Thursday, 14 May at 7pm.
